Barle Valley Counselling

As a humanistic integrative counsellor I work very flexibly using a range of approaches in a bespoke holistic way to best support you, the individual client. Everyone is an individual and I am committed to working in the best way that supports you. I view the collaborative relationship I establish with each client as fundamental to our work together. I provide short term and longer term therapy. I have worked with clients from the ages of 12 - 89 and with English speaking clients from around the world!
My counselling qualification is the Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling accredited by The Iron Mill Institute in Exeter. I am an Accredited Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and my work is supervised by an Accredited Supervisor ensuring best ethical practice. I am fully insured and DBS checked.

Although I work with a wide range of people and many diverse issues, I do find that some of my clients choose to work with me because of my teaching background and my knowledge of the challenges of dyslexia, ADHD and autistic spectrum disorders.

I am a qualified and experienced practitioner of creative writing for therapeutic purposes and, if you enjoy this way of working, writing can be incorporated into counselling sessions (Metanoia Institute, London July 2020)

I am a qualified Trauma Informed Therapist. (CPAB Level 5 July 2025)

I have previously worked as an adult education tutor teaching counselling and mental health courses.

I enjoy walking and writing - but not necessarily at the same time! A very long time ago I did a degree in English Literature.
